Walwers Lane is one of those twisty little lanes which you know must have a history, but today just connects the High Street with Landsdown Place.
But if you do step off the High Street on to Walwers Lane it not only twists but gets a lot a narrower on it route down to Lansdown Place but offers up a bonus in that you will pass a ghost sign .......... one of those often faded hand painted adverts for a long lost company.
But here I cheat because the WE Baxter Ld, Printers, Bookbinders Stationers, does still exist and our sign is on the gable end of a the building which still houses the business which proudly announces it was “Founded in 1802” which of course is what you would expect to find in Lewes which is almost as “old as time".
So that is it.

Do you mean Lewes, in East Sussex? To me this page makes no sense to me. Lewes is mentioned once, the rest of it refers to Lewis, which is in the Hebrides.
