Of porcelain nurses, the odd tank and the battleship which showed up in landlocked Paisley

Now there is only the flimsiest of connections between the nurse from Southend-on-Sea, the Great War tank and the Dreadnought battleship, sold in the shops of Paisley in Renfrewshire.

And that is that, they are all fine examples of crested china and belonged to the parents of Fred Page.

But that is enough to induct them into the Crested China Hall of Fame.

They are in perfect condition and along with the porcelain sailor, zeppelin airship and pre-war milk jug from the Franco Anglo Exhibition of 1908 have added to my collection.

Although in my case it is just the image, not the real thing.

Each will have its own story, which has now been lost, and I wonder what those stories were.

They may have been bought as an act of patriotism, or as a present and some like the sailor and the Dreadnought may have had a direct connection with a loved one serving in the armed forces.

I should ask Fred how his parents acquired them, or if they were passed down to him.

So, for now that is it.
