Was one of the first girls to go there, when it went back to Chorlton High School, joined with Barlow Hall. Was Chorlton Grammar for boys.Met my husband there.
Hi Johnny L, You must have been in the fourth form when I joined at age 11. I was there from 1960 to 1966. Did you know guys called George Spicer and Kenny Hankinson? Do you know of any other links or history, documents etc. of the school on the internet?
I was a pupil 1954-59 and have no fond memories I was in Faraday House but the school felt like Bot Camp other than Merriman who I respected and also Jack Clare our geography teacher. Recall music teacher Pearson hurling a board eraser at one of my class mates that struck his eyebrow that bled badly, By todays standard he would have been fired for such a fiery outburst of temper, Bob Bradshaw former Chief Executive Bromsgrove District Council for 13 years and City Manager 9 years Mapleton, Utah now retired in Surf City California
Chas Poole 1960 to 1966. Interesting that former pupils are still in contact, there was a website but it seems to have shut down. Memories fade but the effects of school remain. Just trying to remember now what the four or so houses were and their colours, I was in Lancaster (Yellow) and note that Faraday was another but what were the others and their respective colours . Have regular of the school hymn "Immortal Invisible God only wise. Remember Merriman and Crofts as Headmasters, Mr Flett a mad Scotts Maths teacher from Bamff. Used to wield a Plimsole to whack with!! Some good times some not so good there!
