Coming in from Cornbrook over the Bridgwater travelling on the big double decker

Well as a line for a song it lacks something and is a poor imitation of Arlo Guthrie.

Added to which you will have to be of a certain age to remember his Coming into Los Angeles or his even better Alice’s Restaurant.

So enough of this tortured set of links and equally tired trip down the music of my youth and instead on to Andy’s pictures.

These come from his Deansgate series and were taken earlier this week with that ever present thought that some of what he saw might soon be gone.

Andy I think is unique is that his photographs record not just a moment in time but consistently over a series of locations chronicle the changes from derelict building to its demolition and the subsequent new build.

I just wish we had both been around with cameras when the site around Tonman Street and Byrom Street were cleared of their old properties back in the 1970s which led to the discovery of the Roman of the Roman township outside the fort.

I took a few pictures but they have been lost and all we have are some from the digital archive of the dig.

So with that in mind I shall just let the pictures tell it all.
