We are at the paddling pool in Chorlton Park and the year is sometime in the 1930s.
The park was opened in the mid 1920s and the pool is still fondly remembered by many people in Chorlton.

Some 30 years on in the 60's my friend Mark McCall and I amused ourselves by running thro this and similar paddling pools - without any of this informal shoes-off business. If you were quick enough (and daft enough to try) you could just about sprint from one side to the other without getting your shoes, socks or feet soaked. Probably wouldn't bother these days.
ReplyDeleteWe were all daft then!
ReplyDeleteGreat times were had in Chorlton Park late forty's early fifty'.
