The Lost Chorlton pictures ......... no 15. .........

Now I am pretty confident that this one will bring up a rich collection of memories.

It continued trading into the 1980s and was a wonderful place where the chesses were piled high and there was pretty much any cheese you wanted.

And l have been corrected by John Paul Moran who tells me it continued trading well in to the 1990s. Thanks John.

Location; Wilbraham Road

Picture; the bacon and cheese shop, 1979, from the collection of Andrew Simpson

  4. I remember when all the windows got smashed. At the time the story was it was Animal Rights. I know it's going back a bit but that's what I recall. Did the windows not use to be little squares. Perhaps I'm getting mixed up!

    1. The little windows were much later, perhaps after the smashing incident, of which I was not aware! The shop was trading well into the '90s, by the way.

  6. I think that some time before this, (50s and early 60s) the shop was Allendale's greengrocers
