Now I am pretty confident that this one will bring up a rich collection of memories.
It continued trading into the 1980s and was a wonderful place where the chesses were piled high and there was pretty much any cheese you wanted.

And l have been corrected by John Paul Moran who tells me it continued trading well in to the 1990s. Thanks John.

ReplyDeleteAh well Carol ..... onto better things
ReplyDeleteI remember when all the windows got smashed. At the time the story was it was Animal Rights. I know it's going back a bit but that's what I recall. Did the windows not use to be little squares. Perhaps I'm getting mixed up!
ReplyDeleteThe little windows were much later, perhaps after the smashing incident, of which I was not aware! The shop was trading well into the '90s, by the way.
DeleteRemember this shop well, often went in for cheeses 🧀 and bacon sliced for you especially!
ReplyDeleteI think that some time before this, (50s and early 60s) the shop was Allendale's greengrocers
