New Broadcasting House, Manchester, 1975-2013

Now I missed the BBC building on Oxford Road going up and pretty much missed it coming down.

During the time it was being built we had moved out to Ashton-Under-Lyne and by the time I moved back to the city three years later it was built and broadcasting.

And in much the same way because I use the tram there are few occasions when I travel down the Oxford Road corridor.

So its demise and eventual fate as a hole in the ground and temporary car park was chronicled by Andy Robertson who is fast becoming one of the official photographers for the blog.

I hope that in time he will donate these images to the Library’s collection of pictures and photographs, which is a treasure house of the city’s history.*

So continue to snap Andy and please continue to share your record of the changes to Manchester.
