Free Manchester history .... through September

Yep lots of historical venues will be free to visit through September.

A brace of buses, 2024

They include museums, an iconic cinema and lots more, and the full story is available from yesterday's Manchester Evening News.*

Ashton ... Altrincham ..... Manchester... at the Bus Museum, 2024

And according to the MEN, the event is "Organised by the National Trust and supported by the People’s Postcode Lottery, the festival runs across England from September 12 until 21.

Stockport's iconic cinema, 2015
There are more than 150 locations taking part in Greater Manchester for 2025 and among them are The Plaza cinema and theatre in Stockport, the Science and Industry Museum in the city centre, and Rochdale Old Fire Station.

The theme of this year’s festival is architecture, and alongside the museums and other venues participating are dozens of historic churches across the region will be opening their doors including St Andrew’s Church in Eccles, St Peter’s Church in Leigh and St Mary’s Church in Droylsden".*

And along with the heaps of of historical venues who have thrown their doors open there  are two of my favourites, the Greater Manchester Transoort Musem off Queen Street and and the Science and Industry Musem on Liverpool Road.
