Stories from Chorlton-cum-Hardy during the Great War today at the Post Box Cafe starting at 2pm

A chance to discover the contribution made by the people of Chorlton during the Great War.

Today at the Post Box Cafe the stories of  the men who went off to fight, those who never came back and how their families got on with the daily routines of life.

And the story of the almost forgotten Red Cross Hospitals on Edge Lane and Manchester Road which were staffed and partly supported by the people of Chorlton.

All this and some of  the letters, post cards and souvenirs of those from the Great War.

The talk is part of Chorlton Book Festival and we will be at the Post Box Cafe with the added attraction of a glass of mulled wine and soup as part of the price.

And there is a promise that David Harrop who runs a permanent exhibition of memorabilia from both world wars at the Memorial Lodge in Southern Cemetery will end the talk with some of the postcards letters, photographs and medals from his collection.

2–3pm at The Post Box Café, £4.75
Wilbraham Road, M21 9PP
