It’s all in the way you tell them ……… stories of Hough End Hall in Chorlton Park

The first of the story boards

Now another chapter in the story of Hough End Hall was rolled out in Chorlton Park yesterday afternoon.

The sun shone down and a group of interested residents, along with, the Councillors for Chorlton Park,  Dave Rawson, Jonna Midgley, and Mandie Shilton Godwin who joined Peter Topping and Carolyn Kagan for the unveiling of three story boards which tell the story of Hough End Hall from its beginning to the present day.

The idea for the boards came from the Friends of Hough End Hall who worked with the Park authorities, taking the project forward from the first idea to yesterday’s unveiling.

The hall dated from 1596 and was for roughly two hundred years the home of the Mosley family, before becoming a farm house and a restaurant, and is now in community use.
