Now the activities of a political party are not all concentrated with distributing leaflets and canvassing.
Back in the late 1970s and into the next decade the Moss Side Constituency Labour Party operated a bookshop, which occasionally made an appearance at demonstrations.
Chorlton Ward along with Alexandra Ward took it in turn to run these temporary book stalls.
The books would be collected from Adrian and returned at the end of the day.
This was Alexandra Park sometime in the 1980s, but I can’t remember the occasion which might have been one of the Carnivals.
If you were lucky, it didn’t rain, people bought some books, but what ever the weather or number of customers, there was always someone to talk to, and you always felt that a bit of campaigning had been done.
