Making Christmas a good one ……… in Rusholme with the Red Cross …. December 1918

The scene in this picture postcard will have been replicated across the country in Red Cross hospitals during the four years of the Great War.

This was the Red Cross Hospital in Rusholme in December 1918.

It was and is again a school, but for three years from 1915 it was one of the hospitals under the umbrella of the 2nd General Western Hospital.

I have written extensively about Red Cross Hospitals during the war and in particular those in Manchester, so I shall leave it at that.*

Other than to say this is another picture postcard plundered from the collection of David Harrop.

Location; Rusholme

Pictures; “Christmas tree given to the soldiers, December 1918” 1918, from the collection of David Harrop, and Heald Place School, Rusholme, 2023, courtesy of Goggle Maps.
