Just six years ago ….. in Mayfield …. that place full of history and heaps of changes

Mayfield is one of those places I have rediscovered.

For years it was a dismal place of empty industrial sites, and car parks which clearly had lots of history, but was now waiting for something to happen.

Well that has now begun to happen, with big development plans including an urban par.

Six years ago, Andy wandered along Boardman Street which runs into Fairfield Street.  It was he says “a gloomy November day in 2014 and the building, hard by the Medlock, has been demolished. In 1969 it housed many manufactories including 2 printers, preambulator rug mfrs, Glove mfrs, and motor car seat cover mfrs”.

It is now a car park, but I suspect not for long.

Location; Mayfield
