A window, some tables, and the office ........

So, for as along as I can remember the stretch of Dickinson Street down from St Peter’s Square was closed to the busy pedestrian, the curious tourist, and anyone seeking a short cut to the Library.

2022

Its closure was occasioned by the demolition of the impressive white building and Elisabeth House and the rise of their replacements.

1966
But now you can walk through from the square down to Portland Street, or take the walk along Back George Street, which is where I was when I took the picture.
Sadly I never took any pictures of the square in the 60s and so have fallen back on this one of the building which predates Elisabeth House.
