So, for as along as I can remember the stretch of Dickinson Street down from St Peter’s Square was closed to the busy pedestrian, the curious tourist, and anyone seeking a short cut to the Library.

Its closure was occasioned by the demolition of the impressive white building and Elisabeth House and the rise of their replacements.
1966 |
Sadly I never took any pictures of the square in the 60s and so have fallen back on this one of the building which predates Elisabeth House.
