An ode on the occasion of a new friend on Beech Road ……..

Yesterday two nice men

In a big blue van

Brought our new friend

To the Rec on Beech Road.

It is as sturdy as it is informative

Provides essential telephone numbers

An email address

And a name.

Some of us will always know the place as the Rec

But for newcomers it is Beech Road Park

And for those in doubt as to where that is

There is that bold and assertive poster just below the sign,

Announcing to all the Friends of Beech Road

Who travel here from far away

In their smart big cars,

And park in long serried ranks

That Beech Road offers an opportunity

To Shop, Eat and Explore

And of course, to Sit, Play and Relax

In the Rec.

So, thank you to the two men and the van.
