There are plenty of reasons to visit the Central Reference Library in St Peter’s Square.
Leaving aside the books, there is architecture, ranging from the impressive Great Hall which was once the Social Sciences Library on the first floor with its circular layout, to the Shakespeare Hall replete with stunning windows, statues and coats of arms and the grand meeting area, where you can sit with friends, explore the current exhibitions or head off to the Archive and Local History Libraries.
And on Saturday from 1pm there is the book launch of the first two in the series, the History of Greater Manchester By Tram.
All you could want and more.
