The church ……. a car ……….. and another Didsbury picture

It’s the one on Albert Hill Street, and was the Primitive Methodist Church.

In 1911 it proudly announced that its “Services were at 10.45 am and 6.30 pm on Wednesday’s and 7.30 pm on Sunday with a Sunday School”.

And despite frequent visits over the years to the Albert which is now the Fletcher Moss, I must own up to never giving it a second glance.

But Barbarella did just that, and sent it over, as part of the “record  of Didsbury’s past in pictures”, and for that I thank her.

I went looking for its story, but so far could only come up with the simple fact that it was there by 1894.

A trawl of the Manchester newspapers has revealed nothing more, but there are still local papers I have yet to search, along with some who have an excellent knowledge of the Primitive Methodists.

So, we shall see.

All of which just leaves the story of the car, but that is for another day.

Location; Didsbury

Picture; the one on Albert Hill Street, 2020, from the collection of  Barbarella Bonvento
