Chorlton Book Festival …………. here again

Even in these uncertain times, it is good to know that Chorlton Book Festival is back with us.

Of course, the current precautions against Covid have made for a different Festival, with the entire programme of events being streamed online.

The events start on Friday September 19th and runs through to Friday September 25th and each day can be found by following the link.*

The featured guest speakers are Nathan Byron, Daliso Chaponda, Okechukwu Nzelu, Anna Mainwaring, Marie Basting, Ruth Estevez, Henry Normal, Louisa Reid, and Jack Nicholls, along with Northern Noir. Crime Writers Panel.

To this the Festival has added an event entitled  celebration of photography and performance poetry, featuring, Tony Curry, John Darwin, Lucy Power, Henry Normal, Mark Mace Smith, Cathy Crabb, Gerry Potter, Mad Aunty Kerry, Marvin Cheeseman, Neil Bell, Anna Percy, Rob Steventon, Copland Smith & Joy France.

Sadly, the much-loved traditional History Walk, which ended at the Edge with soup, sandwiches and a drink had to be dropped this year.

But the organizers have chosen to mention Andrew Simpson who led the walks, and his colleague Peter Topping who is a well-known local artist, and has just published a book.

Together they have written a series of books on Chorlton, and they are the first local writers to appear on this year’s Festival’s blog, which promises to include other authors and playwrights who live in the township.

Never one to shirk publicity I have included a link to that blog story.**

And for those wanting something even more special, here pretty much for the first time ever is a picture of me, which as Peter knows rarely sees the light of day, and certainly not on the blog.

I refuse to accept the jibe that the original image sits in the attic, which Peter has long asserted is the reason for my youthful looks and energy.

I leave it up to you to work out which is Peter and which is me.

So that is it ….. follow the links, and find something to enjoy....... actually I know there is lots to enjoy.

Location; Chorlton
