History from the bathroom shelf

Now my friend Ann grew up on Barlow Moor Road and often sends me items from when she was growing up in the 1950s.

This is one of my favourites and reminds us that toothpaste didn’t always come in a tube.

In time I think I will go looking for Jewsbury and Brown of Market Street.

An shortly after I posted the story Margaret Copeland Gain sent over this link to the story of the company, for which I thank her.

A bit of Manchester history unearthed, from Gallery in the Park.*

Location; Manchester

Picture; toothbrush jar, circa 1940s, from the collection of Ann Love
