Now, this is how I remember that stretch of Wilmslow Road, from Kings Lynn Close down towards Albert Hill Street.
For Kansas Fried Chicken, read Edwyn’s and for the Halifax, Mark Down the supermarket and so on.
Back in 1911, the list ran John William Miller, fruiterer, and Jn Williams & Sons Ltd, grocer.
And for those who long ago exchanged Wilmlsow Road for other places, here courtesy of Andy Roberston, is much the same scene today.
What I like about Andy's picture is that it has been taken from the upstairs of a bus bound for Chorlton.
