It is with great regret that Peter Topping and I will not be at the Chorlton Beer Festival this year promoting our books.
We had hoped to have a stall, and to show case our two very successful Manchester Pubs Books, along with the ever popular The Quirks of Chorlton-cum-Hardy.
Last year we made many new friends at our pitch beside the church entrance and shared with them memories of the pubs we knew and loved, from Tommy Ducks and Peveril of the Peak to the lost pubs of Chorlton.
Because of a shedload of commitments including holidays, we left it very late to apply, but like the thirsty works outing heading back from New Brighton, all the spaces at all the hostelries along the way were full.
Still, we will there to meet our friends and sample the ales.
All the books including Hough End Hall The Story, Didsbury Through Time, along with The Quirks of Chorlton-cum-Hardy and Manchester Remembering 1914-18 are available from Chorlton Bookshop or direct from us at www.pubbooks.co.uk.
But that is not quite all because we are running a competition for the best caption to the picture above. The captions should be Chorlton Beer Festival related
There will be a prize of our Chorlton Pubs book to the best caption.
Mark your entries Picture Caption and as a comment to the blog, an email to peter@pubbooks.co.uk or facebook message to either of us.
