A short series on the lost pubs of Manchester in pictures, but given the number that we have lost in the last few decades, it may well turn into a long one.
At which point I am not attempting to eclipse that fine site, Pubs of Manchester, Past and Present, which chronicles those that have disappeared.*
But I couldn’t miss an opportunity when Andy sent over a series of then and now former pubs which he has photographed in his travels.
This is the Staff of Life on the Ashton Old Road ....... just two pictures and a set of memories for those who remember them.
Location; Ashton Old Road,
Pictures; The Staff of Life, 1970, A. Dawson, m50593, courtesy of Manchester Libraries, Information and Archives, Manchester City Council, http://images.manchester.gov.uk/index.php?session=pass
and the Staff of Life, 2020, from the collection of Andy Robertson
