Ode to a sign in the Rec

How sad you must be

When politely you inform

All those who care to read

That they are in a Dog Free Zone.

And they ignore your request

To keep their dogs away.

Instead, the laughing lady and her accomplice

With their big black dog

Cavort across the grass

Where toddlers crawl

Oblivious that once on

On hot summer’s days the grass was very smelly and unpleasant

And people picked their resting place with care.

Of course, not everyone is irresponsible .........
