Lament on the passing of a motorized friend ……. that bus station at Stockport*

Farewell Stockport bus station we knew you well.

From your serried ranks of shelters you offered views of that railway viaduct,

With promises of adventures far beyond your motorised routes.

No more will l be able to buy provisions from that gold tiled kiosk

Which served me well on trips north to Manchester and south to Disley.

Your promise of wider horizons will be another’s gift.

I used you less in later years,

And for that I apologise.

Today on social media you are called the “dullest bust station in the world",

But you will always have a place in my heart,

Somewhere between Mersey Square, that busy A34 and the sparkly relentless river.

So, I will not

 mourn your passing,

Instead I will relive your glory days and share your story

Recorded by the Modernmoocher for all time.*
