Bringing the story Home ......

Now for anyone who hasn’t come across the term British Home Children, these were the young people migrated from Britain to Canada, Australia and other bits of the old empire for just over a century.

In the case of Canada it began in 1869 and ended in the 1940s and lasted in to the 1970s with Australia.

It still a bit of a hidden story, although there is now greater awareness in Canada, with the establishment of local groups, media sites and books.

So far there is little in this country and British Home Children ....... the story from Britain aims to rectify this.

It will be a project where stories can be shared, and information exchanged, all of which will raise awareness of the subject.

We have started with a facebook site and in time hope that individuals and groups will set up their own sites and like us publicise the subject with events.

The poster can be downloaded and posted on notice boards of heritage centres, libraries, workplaces or just given out to friends.

There are lots of places out there.

Poster; available to be downloaded, designed by Peter Topping, 2018
