Now, usually by now we would have had the results of the local elections in Manchester.
They took place yesterday and in the old days as soon as the polls closed, the ballot boxes would be on their way to the Town Hall where the counts would be done, and pretty much but by midnight we would know the results.
But not so this year. Counting will start today in G Mex and will take longer because it was “an all out” with all three council seats in each ward up for election.
So that will take longer and because of boundary changes some ward will have altered geographically.
In the case of Chorlton I have just missed being included in Chorlton Park as the boundary has extended down Beech Road to stop just before us which would have taken me out of Chorlton where I have voted since the 1970s.
So that is it. Results I guess will begin to trickle in during the afternoon, leaving me with is poster of the election address for the Progressive party who fielded three candidates in the 1904 Municipal election which was the first held in Chorlton after the ratepayers had elected to join Manchester.
